How to create the ultimate European Super League / World Champions League on FIFA 23
There has been a lot of talk about in recent years of a European Super League, but how could this work on FIFA 23 career mode? Could we also create a World Champions League?
I took several hours thinking about this and have put together the Ultimate Super League for career mode.
There were three key things to consider;
How big would this super league be?
For example;
- You could use the Dutch league (18 teams), with no relegation.
- You could use the MLS (28 teams), with no relegation.
- You could use the German league (56 teams), across 3 divisions.
- You could use the English League (92 teams), across 4 divisions.
Which teams to include?
- Do you only include teams from the top 5 European Divisions?
- Do you include teams from across Europe based on their UEFA ranking?
- Do you includes all the best teams from around the world, including those in the US and Argentina?
How does the super league effect continental competitions in career mode?
- If you use the MLS, there isn’t a continental competitions.
- If you use the Australian, Chinese, Saudi, Korean league, its effected by the Asian Cup.
- If you use a European League, its effected by the Champions League, Europa League and Europa Conference.
So, here is what I did…..
Firstly I wanted to ensure the continental competitions were still fun and didn’t include weak European teams who weren’t in the ‘Super League’. I also wanted the Champions League to include the best teams from the MLS, Argentina, China, Korea, Australia…. Therefore creating a World Champions League!
To do this, I needed to know the distribution of teams from each league that go into the continental competitions and found;
Knowing the above, I can then assign each league with team from other parts of the world.
However firstly, I need to sort the ‘Super League’, which I assigned to ‘England’. I decided to create this from the best teams in England, Spain, Germany, France, Italy, Portugal, Belgium, Denmark, Netherlands and Scotland (the top European leagues, according to UEFA) + RB Salzburg.
I distributed these 92 teams the across the Premier League, Championship, League 1 and League 2. As per the below (a max of 14 teams from one country and only 4 per division).
Then I looked at the distribution above, to work out what to do with the other European leagues. Based on the strengths of the other world league, I distributed the teams as so;
- English league becomes (→) the ‘European Super League’
- Both the Spanish & German leagues → MLS League
- Both the Italian & French leagues → Argentinian League
- Portuguese league → Chinese League
- Dutch league → Gaelic League (Welsh, Scottish and Irish teams)
- Scottish League → Korean League
- Belgian League → Saudi League + Al Ain FC (from Rest of the world)
- Danish League → Australian League
- Norwegian League → Indian League
- Irish League → South African + Colombian League
- Swedish League → Scandinavian League (Norwegian & Swedish teams)
- Austrian, Polish, Romanian, Turkish, Swiss leagues are unchanged (except the removal of RB Salzburg)
- European teams such as AEK Athens, within Rest of the world teams remain unchanged.
Key things to note
- This is a complex process, so take your time!!
- Keep track of where you move teams to when redesigning these leagues, there isn’t a ‘search function’ to find teams.
- once you’ve moved your teams, its essential that you remove all strong teams that remain in these divisions, thus allowing Argentinian teams to qualify for the World Champions League. For example, within the new Argentinian league, all other Italian and French teams (2.5 stars and above) are replaced with weak 1/1.5 star teams from England, Scotland, Denmark, Portugal, Norway.
- Also look at 2nd / 3rd divisions in Spain, France, Italy, France — there are some big teams in there you will want to remove, as they will end up getting promoted to the top division.
